NIELSEN'S NATIVE NURSERY

Hibiscus 'Ian's Pink'
NIELSEN'S NATIVE NURSERY have a series of Australian Native Hibiscus named in memory of Ian Waldron who was well known for his love of Australian native plants and for his work in the Society for Growing Australian Plants in Queensland. Prior to his sudden death in 2002, Ian worked as a propagator at Nielsen's Native Nursery and was skilled at propagating even the most difficult of Australian Malvaceae. Ian grew and liked Hibiscus 'Apricot Mist' and was looking for more crosses that bloomed all year and were smaller growing plants. The following plants were chosen for their year round blooming and range of colours. They look particularly good when grown with Grevilleas of a complementary colour.

Hibiscus 'Ian's Pink' is a seedling of 'Apricot Mist'.
Hibiscus 'Ian's Lemon' Is a cross between Hibiscus meraukensis and Hibiscus divaricatus.
Hibiscus 'Ian's Cream' can be used to make Hibiscus Cordial, Hibiscus Preserve and Hibiscus Syrup (see Culinary).
